University Interview Tips. 12 tips for success!


This blog will give you tips on how to be successful at your University interview.

University interviews and auditions are set by universities. Course tutors can compare each student and then make a decision. These tips will help.

A course tutor will decide but you could have an online or face to face interviews. You could be asked to provide an essay or a portfolio. You’ll find out more from the offer they give you on your UCAS portal.   

Prep & Plan

1 – Find out who what where and when! Plan how you will get there or where you will do your online interview. Courses don’t have the time to rearrange so try your best to avoid doing this. 

2 – Write questions that you might get asked and plan out some answers. Read these answers out loud, practice makes perfect. 

3 – Look through the curriculum and modules online for the course. It’s good to show which particular parts of course you’re looking forward to. 

4 – Practice a mock interview with your teacher. Often previous applicants share their interview questions online. Social media is fab for this too! 

5 – Prep an outfit. No, this isn’t a fashion show but having what you plan to wear ready can ease one less stress for the day. 

6 – Sleep well and have a good meal before hand. This will make you feel your best for the day! 

Take a deep breath

7 – Make sure you have plenty of time to attend that, leave in enough time for any delays. 

8 – The whole day is an interview so think about your body language and how you interact with everyone. Be polite, sit up straight and pay attention. Avoid yawning and slouching because first impressions count! 

9 – Speak up because it is ok if you don’t understand a question, didn’t hear someone or need a question repeating. 

10 – Have your own questions prepared. This shows how excited you are about the course and the University

Reflect & Relax
